ok so like
There's this girl back in the storageroom, in the skaia days, right.
Storeroom Keeper. She's a real sweetheart, lemmie tell ya.
She's dedicated to her job, as any of us are, right, but she and I are sent to count the engine parts again because some dunderhead with illegible writing did that area last and it's... illegible, so we gotta double-check it. It's boring as heck, I mean, it's not just
counting, but
re-counting. S'like, we did that already right? And it's mostly gonna be the same - hell, it's not like we're looking for miscounts (but we are anyway because someone might have moved a piece and y'know, while we're
there, right?) but we were combing through everythinga nyway and
okay so like SK, she looked kind of
tired, counting all that stuff. Normally she doesn', no one does because
fuuuuck we just
love counting, right? But today she's looking kind of tired so I make some kind of stupid joke about engines and organization or something and she smiles and looks a lil' less like she's bored to tears, and, y'know, that - it y'know felt good to make someone smile, right? so i make another stupid comment later about ignitions or I don't know, but she smiled again, and like a few minutes later she makes a crack about cogs and y'know that was ... well it was a fun shift. I mean we were still counting shit but we were saying things that weren't numbers, that weren't related to our jobs at all y'know and it was kind of nice to have that uh... connection with someone I guess
not that I couldn't joke with the other guys, y'know, it just happened more often with SK and it wasn't always relating to some numbers humour, right.
And yeah jokes turned to us just talking about stuff, like favourite dreamer, what we saw in the clouds, how we thought the war was going, that kind of thing, that kind of thing that wasn't counting, and it was nice. You tried that kinda small talk on anyone else and like they just give you short answers, chuckle a lil' and then ask you to pass the bin of sprockets, but not her, she could hold conversation between counting and like things other than her job. we ended up paired together lots too, that was great, i guess we worked well?
when we landed in the desert she kind of hung out with me more than others. I mean I was always with a bunch of people but like y'know how groups worrk right?
uhhhhh so i don't know if that counts for love for real or anything but I thinkt aht's the closest I've come so far so. and well you know how it went from there kind of, right?
